Two days full of games! DE:HIVE presents projects from research, studies and transfer. Apart from current games projects including board games, video games and VR experiences, you can meet and talk with students, researchers and young entrepreneurs.

Student work and projects
Game Design students from the Bachelor's and Master's programmes show their semester works and current game projects ranging from character models (maquettes), board and video games to VR experiences. The students are looking forward to numerous playtestings with you!
Cross:play - Encounter culture and creative industries
Cross:play connects the Game Design degree programme with the Berlin cultural scene. New intersections between dance, theatre, opera, media, games and experience design were explored in interdisciplinary labs. We can look back on two years full of interactive exchange, labs and developments of innovative formats and invite you to our final exhibition here at HIVE FIVE 2023.
AI:PLAY - What can AI do?
AI:PLAY is an experimental space within the framework of the AI Learning Workshop KI Lernwerkstatt(KI_WI) project. We explore the possibilities and chances of artificial intelligence for game making. What role will AI play in processes of creating games and how does it change the way we play? As AI opens up new workflows and interfaces to the digital world. Our aim is to find and share sustainable and ethical ways of interaction with this technology.

Application 2023 - The new topic
Are you interested in studying B.A. GAME DESIGN? The Game Design study programme requires conceptual and creative talent, which you can prove in the aptitude test. Therefore, you have to work on a homework assignment. The topic of the homework assignment will be announced during the HIVE FIVE information event.

The GAME DESIGN degree programme is proud of its numerous successful and award-winning game projects and supports new, innovative founding ideas from students. Come over and take a look behind the scenes of our incubator projects, such as Meanderbooks, Dorfromantik and Abriss.
Düppel:3D - Digital discovery of the Middle Ages
Düppel:3D explores the digitisation of cultural heritage objects and knowledge transfer with virtual reality and game technology in the form of an interactive 3D experience: How to digitally discover and experience the landscape and culture of the Middle Ages? The exhibition shows insights in the photogrammetric recording of interiors, environments and artefacts of the Düppel Museum Village.
Student Initiative - It's Ukraine not a game
An initiative led by students of the Bachelor and Master programme GAME DESIGN exhibits interactive digital experiences to raise awareness and denormalise the Russia-Ukraine war. The projects focus on the individual fates, flight and war experiences of the Ukrainian population. In interactive experiences such as board games, a 360° video and dioramas, the students put the focus on the people and their lives.
